Do I need an appointment to see a doctor at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
Yes. Consultations are generally by appointment so we can manage waiting times and ensure you see the right doctor. Please report to reception when you arrive.
What should I do if I have symptoms that might be contagious?
If you or your child has a fever, cough, rash, vomiting or diarrhoea, please tell reception when you arrive at Crows Nest Medical Practice. We may need to seat you in a separate area.
How long should my appointment be at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
A standard 15 minute appointment is suitable for one concern. A 30 or 45 minute appointment is recommended for multiple concerns, new patients, annual checks, cervical screening, travel advice, mental health care plans, work cover assessments and minor procedures.
Can I request my preferred doctor at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
Yes. When booking, please let reception know if you would like to see a particular doctor. If your preferred doctor is unavailable, our other doctors can access your records to provide continuity of care.
What is the cancellation policy at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
If you no longer need your appointment, please notify us so we can offer the time to another patient. Missed appointments may incur a $50 failure to attend fee, which cannot be claimed through Medicare.
Why are there sometimes delays at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
General practice can be unpredictable and emergencies may arise. This can cause delays even when we plan carefully. You are welcome to call ahead to check if your doctor is running on time. We will try to notify you if delays are significant.
How do online bookings and reminders work at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
You can book appointments online via the appointment tab on our website. If no times appear, please call reception as we may still be able to assist. You will receive an SMS reminder the day before your appointment.
How do recalls and reminders work at Crows Nest Medical Practice?
We use SMS, email or letter reminders to notify patients when important tests or screenings are due. This includes cervical and breast screening, blood tests, blood pressure checks, annual health checks and childhood vaccinations. Please keep your contact details up to date.
Can my doctor discuss my medical information with someone else?
Not unless you have given permission. Crows Nest Medical Practice cannot share your information with family, friends or anyone else without your consent, in line with the Privacy Act.
